Enriching the ER model based on discovered association rules
نویسندگان
چکیده
The entity–relationship (ER) model, a powerful means for business and data modeling, needs to be enriched with new semantics as the real world changes and its understanding improves. This paper attempts at enriching the ER model based on association rules (AR) discovered from large databases by introducing specializations and sub-types into the ER model. The proposed framework is extended to deal with more general, flexible and linguistic knowledge in fuzzy association rules. Moreover, transforming an AR-enriched-ER (AR-EER) schema to a relational database (RDB) schema is also investigated. 2006 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

A new approach based on data envelopment analysis with double frontiers for ranking the discovered rules from data mining
Data envelopment analysis (DEA) is a relatively new data oriented approach to evaluate performance of a set of peer entities called decision-making units (DMUs) that convert multiple inputs into multiple outputs. Within a relative limited period, DEA has been converted into a strong quantitative and analytical tool to measure and evaluate performance. In an article written by Toloo et al. (2009...
متن کاملIdentifying and Evaluating Effective Factors in Green Supplier Selection using Association Rules Analysis
Nowadays companies measure suppliers on the basis of a variety of factors and criteria that affect the supplier's selection issue. This paper intended to identify the key effective criteria for selection of green suppliers through an efficient algorithm callediterative process mining or i-PM. Green data were collected first by reviewing the previous studies to identify various environmental cri...
متن کاملEvolutionary Discovery of Multi-relational Association Rules from Ontological Knowledge Bases
In the Semantic Web context, OWL ontologies play the key role of domain conceptualizations while the corresponding assertional knowledge is given by the heterogeneous Web resources referring to them. However, being strongly decoupled, ontologies and assertional bases can be out of sync. In particular, an ontology may be incomplete, noisy, and sometimes inconsistent with the actual usage of its ...
متن کاملDeveloping a Course Recommender by Combining Clustering and Fuzzy Association Rules
Each semester, students go through the process of selecting appropriate courses. It is difficult to find information about each course and ultimately make decisions. The objective of this paper is to design a course recommender model which takes student characteristics into account to recommend appropriate courses. The model uses clustering to identify students with similar interests and skills...
